ALASKA SHAKES OFF SMB FOR SOLO LEAD

ALASKA got an early Christmas present after taking the game that was supposed to be played on Christmas Day.

The Aces’ defense held on when San Miguel Beer tried to mount a comeback as they posted a thrilling 91-85 victory to grab solo top spot Saturday night in the 2008-09 KFC PBA Philippine Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Joe Devance and LA Tenorio came up with huge plays in crucial moments when the team’s reliable closer Willie Miller could not get the job done to survive San Miguel’s uprising in the last six minutes of the contest.

“It’s always a thrilling feeling when you beat a quality team like San Miguel Beer and the guys did a wonderful job on the defensive end,” said Alaska head coach Tim Cone, whose team controlled the game from start to finish.

“To beat San Miguel, all the five guys on the court must play alert defense and tonight, we achieved that,” Cone added.

Miller finished with 20 points but was held to just a single point in the fourth period. The two-time MVP also committed seven of the team’s 24 turnovers in the game.

Luckily for the Aces, Tenorio and Devance were in their elements and showed poise down the stretch to escape with the victory.

Tenorio added 18 points and eight assists while Devance chipped in 15 markers, including a crucial putback off the missed jumper by Miller.

Alaska was comfortably ahead at 84-72 with 4:52 mark when Lordy Tugade and Olsen Racela fired back-to-back three-pointers that started a 10-0 blitz to move within two, 82-84, with 1:19 left in the game.

But Devance delivered the dagger as he followed up Miller’s 15-foot jumper to make it 86-82.

Anthony Washington’s three-pointer rimmed out in the next play and Tony de la Cruz was sent to the free throw line by Custodio for a split to make it an 87-82 lead with 35.7 ticks remaining.

Tenorio added a split after Washington was whistled for a technical foul for second motion, 88-82.

Dondon Hontiveros drilled a three-pointer to threaten anew at 85-88, 25.3 seconds left. After a split by Miller, 84-88, San Miguel had another chance to move closer but Washington lost control of the ball.

“This game was supposed to be played on Christmas Day but because of the Singapore game, they had to move it earlier and I thought this was an early Christmas present for us,” said Cone.

Custodio had a career-high 20 points for the Beermen while Hontiveros chipped in 16.

Dorian Pena added 12 markers while Lordy Tugade had a quiet game with 11 and was 4-of-10 from the field. Washington chipped in 10 but was 0-of-5 from behind the arc. (JO

Why sex is good for you..

This is hilarious! Be sure to read the warning at the bottom. I didn’t change a word! I’m not messing with the Sex Fairy!

1. Sex is a beauty treatment. Scientific tests find that when women make love they produce amounts of the hormone estrogen, which makes hair shine and skin smooth.
=============
2. Gentle, relaxed lovemaking reduces your chances of suffering dermatitis, skin rashes and blemishes. The sweat produced cleanses the pores and makes your skin glow.
=============
3. Lovemaking can burn up those calories you piled on during that romantic dinner.
=============
4. Sex is one of the safest sports you can take up. It stretches and tones up just about every muscle in the body. It’s more enjoyable than swimming 20 laps, and you don’t need special sneakers!
=============
5. Sex is an instant cure for mild depression. It releases endorphins into the bloodstream, producing a sense of euphoria and leaving you with a feeling of well-being.
=============
6. The more sex you have, the more you will be offered. The sexually active body gives off greater quantities of chemicals called pheromones. These subtle sex perfumes drive the opposite sex crazy!
===========! ==
7 … Sex is the safest tranquilizer in the world. IT IS 10 TIMES MORE EFFECTIVE THAN VALIUM.
=============
8. Kissing each day will keep the dentist away. Kissing encourages saliva to wash food from the teeth and lowers the level of the acid that causes decay, preventing plaque build-up.
=============
9. Sex actually relieves headaches. A lovemaking session can release the tension that restricts blood vessels in the brain.
=============
10. A lot of lovemaking can unblock a stuffy nose. Sex is a natural antihistamine. It can help combat asthma and hay fever.

If you don’t, then you will never receive good sex again for the rest of your life. You will eventually become celibate, and your genitals will rot and fall off. This is no joke! Send copies to people you think need sex (who doesn’t?). Don’t send money, as the fate of your genitals has no price.

Do not keep this message. This message must leave your e-mail in .5 hours. Please send ten copies and see what happens in four days

Casino Royal

Casino Royale 3.jpg

Casino Royale (2006) is the twenty-first film in the James Bond series; it is directed by Martin Campbell and the first to star Daniel Craig as MI6 agent James Bond. Based on the 1953 novel of the same name by Ian Fleming, it was adapted by screenwriters Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, and Paul Haggis.

It is the third screen adaptation of the Casino Royale novel, which was previously produced as a 1954 television episode and a 1967 satirical film. However, the 2006 film is the only EON Productions adaptation of Fleming’s novel. It is a reboot of the Bond franchise, establishing a new timeline and narrative framework not meant to precede any previous film.[3] This not only frees the Bond franchise from more than forty years of continuity, but allows the film to show a less experienced and more vulnerable Bond.[4]

The film is set at the beginning of James Bond’s career as Agent 007, just as he is earning his licence to kill. After preventing a terrorist attack at Miami Airport, Bond falls for Vesper Lynd, the treasury agent assigned to provide the money he needs to foil a high-stakes poker tournament organized by Le Chiffre. The film’s story arc continues in the 22nd James Bond film, Quantum of Solace.

Casino Royale was released on 16 November 2006. The casting for the movie involved a widespread search for a new actor to portray James Bond, and significant controversy over Daniel Craig when he was eventually selected. Some Pierce Brosnan fans threatened to boycott the film in protest.[5] Despite this, the film, and Daniel Craig’s performance in particular, earned critical acclaim. Casino Royale was produced by EON Productions for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Columbia Pictures, marking the first official Bond film to be co-produced by the latter studio, which had produced and originally distributed the 1967 non-canonical film version.

quantum of solace

Qos-teaser.jpg

Quantum of Solace 2008 is the 22nd James Bond film by EON Productions, released in the United Kingdom on 31 October 2008 and in North America on 14 November. The direct sequel to the 2006 film Casino Royale, it is directed by Marc Forster, and features Daniel Craig‘s second performance as James Bond. In the film, Bond battles Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a member of the Quantum organisation posing as an environmentalist, who intends to stage a coup d’état in Bolivia to take control of its water supply. Bond seeks revenge for the death of Vesper Lynd, and is assisted by Camille Montes (Olga Kurylenko), who has her own vengeance issues.

Producer Michael G. Wilson created the film’s plot while Casino Royale was shooting. Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Paul Haggis and Joshua Zetumer contributed to the script. The title was chosen from a 1960 short story in Ian Fleming‘s For Your Eyes Only, though the film does not contain any elements of the original story. Location filming took place in Panama, Chile, Italy and Austria, while interior sets were built and filmed at Pinewood Studios. Forster aimed to make a modern film that also featured classic cinema motifs: an antique aeroplane was used for a dogfight sequence, and Dennis Gassner‘s set designs are reminiscent of Ken Adam‘s work on several early Bond films. Taking a course away from the usual Bond villains, Forster rejected any grotesque appearance for the character Dominic Greene to emphasise the hidden and secret nature of the film’s (and society’s) modern day corporate villains.

Congregation Beth Elohim

Congregation Beth Elohim sanctuary entrance

Congregation Beth Elohim is a Reform congregation located at 274 Garfield Place and Eighth Avenue, in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. Founded in 1861 as a more liberal breakaway from Congregation Baith Israel, in its first 65 years it attempted four mergers with other congregations, including three with Baith Israel, all of which failed. The congregation completed its current Classical Revival synagogue building in 1910 and its “Jewish Deco” (Romanesque Revival and Art Deco) Temple House in 1929. The congregation went through difficult times during the Great Depression, and the bank almost foreclosed on its buildings in 1946. Membership dropped significantly in the 1930s because of the Depression, and again in the 1970s as a result of demographic shifts. Programs for young children helped draw Jewish families back into the neighborhood and revitalize the membership. By 2006 Beth Elohim had over 1000 members, and, as of 2008[update], it was the largest Reform congregation in Brooklyn, the “oldest Brooklyn congregation that continues to function under its corporate name”, and its pulpit was the oldest in continuous use in any Brooklyn synagogue

Counseling Teens on Sex

Counseling Teens on Sex

W. Steven Pray, PhD, RPh; Joshua J. Pray, PharmD Candidate

Introduction

Counseling teenagers about sexual activity has been a controversial subject since sex education began to be widely discussed in the 1960s. Although schools in the past rarely did more than show the obligatory film about reaching puberty, they were increasingly seen in the late 1960s and 1970s as a primary venue for sex education. Predictably, there was a backlash from those who believed that educating teens about sex would encourage them to engage in sexual activity. Of course, this view overlooked the reality that teens have always engaged in sex, courting the consequences of pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.[1,2] Rather than encouraging sexual activity, sex education aims to teach teens how to make informed decisions about whether to engage in sex and how to avoid its consequences. By counseling on which methods of contraception are most effective, pharmacists can be an invaluable information resource for sexually active teens.

Regardless of which side one is on in the debate, few would disagree that teens who do choose to be sexually active must be given accurate information on how to protect themselves against pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Teens need to understand that the only proven method for preventing these consequences is abstinence, and even if they believe that they are in a committed relationship with a healthy partner, they need to protect themselves against STDs if they are sexually active.

how to stay fit at home

  1. Look around and see all the exercise that we could be getting right at home. However, we first need to reset our minds in to getting back to our daily lives, instead of focusing on going to the Gym; or spending money on costly exercise equipment.
  2. While we are working on changing the way that we think, it is important that we all realize the importance of how we eat. Although, there are so many new studies that tell us something different everyday about food, we can figure some things out for ourselves; and find a plan that works for each of us as individuals.
  3. Realize that it is crazy the way that TV portrays things, like someone that wears a size ten, gets down to a size one…like a size ten was too Big, Not! Then to top it off shows us someone claiming to be in a size one, when it is obvious they are much bigger. But, naturally that will get blamed away by saying TV adds (ten to fifteen) pounds on you; and if that’s the case, then some people on TV look like spaghetti noodles. Plus if that’s the case, well some of the Movie Stars that are claiming to be over weight aren’t, it’s just TV…if they stayed off TV (they would look thinner); therefore, they would lose weight automatically…and a career.
  4. Now that we are done resetting our minds lets look at simple (good old fashion) home chores to stay fit; such as sweeping the porch, pulling weeds by hand, trimming hedges, wiping down the counter tops in the kitchen, taking down curtains and washing them, feather dusting the walls, dusting and polishing furniture. There is always something to do around the house that will keep you fit; thus you’ll have a clean environment in which to live… plus you’ll stay healthy and looking good.
  5. Now since you are already working out, why not take time out from chores and hop on an exercise bike to take yourself for a ride; then later while relaxing (in front of the tube) do a few simple curls with a small dumb bell…while being proud of all that you accomplished in a days time.
  6. If you are a video game fan, buy Dance dance revolutioin or if you have a wii, buy wii fit. They are fun and a GREAT ways to excercise. It provides a challenge and you also have music to listen too.
  7. If you are hyper and bored and stuck at home, jump around the house. Literally hop. Anything that causes you to sweat will help you turn body fat into muscle or just burn it off.

Tips

  • Be sure to stay focused on that old saying that “you are what you eat” find a food plan that works for you…in time it will become a way of life for you…you’ll learn to love the self-control and improvements that you have made.
  • You can spend a lot of money on staying fit or stay busy improving your living environment…while staying fit at the same time…it is up to you.
  • Keep in mind that movement is exercising, such as when you are wiping down a counter top…your hand and arm should be moving in a circular directions…which helps to keep them arms in shape…add a few basic arm movements in with it, and you are on your way (to having toned arms).
  • You have probably heard or may hear someone say that they walk a lot; then somebody else will come along and say that it is not the right type of walking that they are doing, in which don’t make a whole lot of sense…it is common knowledge that (walking is still putting one foot in front of the other) that is unless there is a new way of walking that just hasn’t been heard of yet.
  • When away from home, park your car a distance from where that you need to go, such as the grocery store, etc., each step is in the right direction to staying fit.
  • In this Huge World that we live in there is plenty of room for all shapes and sizes of people; but at the same time, living as healthy as we can will make our time here all the better.

Warnings

  • Don’t get too tied-up at staying home, get out and enjoy life too…keeping a balance will build a better happier you.
  • People should not have to live thinking about exercising all the time, relax sometimes for that is a healthy thing to do…and you still burn calories…just at a slower pace.
